What a KVM drawer actually is<\/h2>\n

A kvm drawer is a 1U (sometimes 2U on large-LCD models) sliding chassis. Pull it out, raise the LCD, type. Push it in, the aisle is clear.<\/p>\n

Three things sit in that chassis:<\/p>\n

  1. Panel.<\/strong> Usually 17 inch or 19 inch. Native resolution on catalog 1U drawers is often SXGA (1280 x 1024) or 1080p. Do not assume 4K unless the datasheet names 3840 x 2160.<\/li>\n
  2. Keyboard + pointer.<\/strong> Touchpad is the default. Trackball is the industrial option.<\/li>\n
  3. Optional KVM switch.<\/strong> Not required. A plain drawer is a local console for one host or for the console ports of a separate rackmount KVM<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    People also search \u201cKVM console drawer,\u201d \u201cLCD KVM drawer,\u201d and \u201crackmount monitor keyboard.\u201d Those phrases describe the same form factor. Keep \u201ckvm drawer\u201d as the commercial term and send shoppers to the category page<\/a>.<\/p>\n
